What are my big 3 zodiac signs? What the calculator shows

Read the wheel and aspect table

After calculation, the numbered wheel places the Sun, Moon and eight planets around the zodiac. Its numbered key and position table provide the same information in text. The major-aspect table compares actual planet longitudes with conjunction, sextile, square, trine and opposition angles, using a fixed 6° orb.

If your birth time is unknown, the wheel uses noon positions and omits the aspect table. No rising sign or houses are inferred. Use “Print or save this chart as PDF” to keep a local copy; printing does not send your birth data to this site.

How it works

Positions are computed in your browser from published astronomical algorithms: the Sun and Moon from Jean Meeus’s Astronomical Algorithms, the planets from NASA JPL’s approximate Keplerian elements, and the ascendant from local sidereal time. Your local birth time is converted to Universal Time with the historical time-zone rules for your birthplace. Houses use the whole-sign system, the oldest house system in Western astrology.

Accuracy was tested against 300 random birth moments from 1900 to 2049, compared with the JPL DE440s ephemeris. More about our methods.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find my Moon sign?

Enter your birth date, time and place above. The Moon changes sign about every two and a half days, so the date alone is often not enough; the time decides it on days when the Moon changes sign.

How do I find my rising sign?

The rising sign (ascendant) is the zodiac sign on the eastern horizon at your birth. It changes about every two hours, so it needs an accurate birth time and place.

What if I don’t know my birth time?

Tick “I don’t know my birth time”. The calculator then uses noon and shows the Sun and planets, but no rising sign or houses. Birth certificates or hospital records often include the time.

Tropical or sidereal?

Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, tied to the seasons. Vedic (Indian) astrology uses a sidereal zodiac, tied to the stars, which is currently about 24° behind. Read the difference.

How accurate is this calculator?

Sun, Moon and ascendant agree with NASA JPL’s DE440s ephemeris to about 0.01° across 1900–2049; Mercury to Mars within 0.05°, Jupiter and Saturn within 0.3°. Placements within 1° of a sign boundary are marked, because a small error in the birth time matters more than the calculation there.
